 This
is the one-hundredth year of the South Union Methodist
Campground. For this reason, we decided to compile this cemetery
record. The records were copied from the tombstones by Martha
Sue Ward, William A. Hughes and Nellie Ward Hughes (Mrs. W. A.).
Beginning on the east side of the cemetery, we
numbered the rows and recorded the tombstones reading from south
to north. We tried to list every grave, but there were many
without tombstones ands some that were too weathered and broken
to read. We regret that we could not identify every grave. If we
have made mistakes in copying, please forgive us.
The sketch of the arbor above was done by
Carolyn Hughes Rizor, daughter of Mr. & Mr.s William A.
Hughes.
The campground, church and cemetery are
located in Choctaw County about three miles west of Ackerman,
Mississippi. Memorial services are held each year on the fourth
Sunday in May and an annual Campmeeting begins on Friday before
the fourth Sunday in July.
